Stanford Group is under fire from the Department of Justice. Sir R. Allen Stanford was indicted early Friday on charges of fraud and obstruction of justice. A criminal complaint was filed against Stanford Groups' chief investment officer Laura Pendergest-Holt in addition to Mark Kuhrt and Gilberto Lopenz, the firms accountants.
Quadruple witching was on tap for the day, posing treacherous trading for the active day trader. Quadruple witching is the simultaneous expiry of equity options, index options, single stock futures and index futures.
Good news out today from General Motors (GM) as as they announced that 900 workers are to be called back to work at the crossover plant in Michigan. Apparently there is a surge in increased sales of the GMC Acadia, Buick Enclave and the Saturn Outlook. In addition, GM has nixed its plans to shut down the Spring Hill, Tennessee plant for an additional week during August due to increased demand for the crossover, Chevrolet Traverse.
