So, you sit down in front of your computer every day and boot up the Trading Rooms at Millennium-Traders. You log onto your trading platform and open a browser window here and there throughout the trading day, when the market gets slow. After you hit your daily profit goal or after the closing bell rings to close the regular market session, you take a break, grab some dinner, spend some time with the family and come back to your computer. After you clear your trades for the day, you decide to do a little Internet surfing. You browse numerous pages from various websites. You access websites about some new cars you’ve been meaning to look at. You take a look at some resorts for possible vacation getaways, maybe some that have nice golf courses, some cruises and who knows what else you look at.
You realize time has flown by, it’s getting late and you want to watch a movie with your family so, you close down the browser pages, turn off your monitor and walk away.

Many computer users do not know how important it is to clear your cache (also referred to as ‘cookies’) and history every day, at least once a day or more, depending upon the amount of web surfing you do. Usually, your computer is configured to store a ‘cookie’ of web pages you visit. Your computer creates a Temporary Internet File of the pages you visit, so that when you access a page that you have been to before, the page will load faster the next time you access it. The problem is, depending upon the amount of web surfing you do, these Temporary Internet Files can cause an overload on your computer’s memory thus, bogging down the speed at which you browse, access web sites or files.
There are different methods of clearing your cache, depending upon the browser you use. You can do a search on the Internet for instructions on clearing the cache for the browser you use or ask your local computer tech for the correct method for your computer. The key thing is, make a mental or hard copy note to clear your cache at least one time every day and you should begin to see a difference in the processing of your computer.
In addition, computer users should defrag their computers at least one time a week. Defragmentation is a process that reduces the amount of unorganized contents on your computer by reorganizing the contents in a neat manner so that data is gathered together instead of basically, all over the place on your computer’s hard disk. Defragmentation is also a way to increase the free space available on your hard disk through this organization of unorganized data. At the end of the day, not only should you clear your cache/cookies you should also make sure your work station is cleaned up, to help make the start of your next trading day, more pleasurable. Shake your keyboard and get all those crumbs out of the keys. Straighten up your desk and have your work area ready and presentable for the follow days trading session. Make sure there are no coffee or soda rings on your desk that can create a sticky location for important documents you may handle the following trading session. Just as you take care of your computer, take care of your work station as well.
